EAGLES NEST HIGH IN THE TREES …

I was reminded this week of another story I told readers over 20 years ago.

It’s worth repeating, I’m sure……

Eagles don’t climb trees to build their nests at the very top.

They fly there.

But eagles don’t automatically like great heights……

If they are forcibly grounded as chicks they happily fly low and nest low as adults.

So flying high is the result of their mumma’s natural instinct to nest high.

In fact, mumma eagle has a hard time getting her babies to step outside her high eyrie.

They’re quite terrified and hang on for grim death.

She has to pry their little talons off the side of the nest and p-u-s-h them off into space.

It takes effort and determination to pry them loose of the nest.

Then – and only then – after the chicks  have experienced the trauma of seeming ‘nothingness’ do they overcome their fear of heights and fly.

(They never fall terrified to the ground).

People are just like that.

It is our trauma that – faced and resolved – gifts us the experience and inner strength of experienced wisdom and lived understandings.

We gain little by always flying safely, always hugging the ground, always staying low.

Consider your own life: is it not during the times of heightened activity and challenge  – good or bad –  that you grew as a person, mentally and emotionally?

So take a moment to review your current circumstances…….

Check to ensure  you’re not hanging on to some situation which is holding you back….

Make sure you’re not flying low just to avoid the fearful possibility of reaching the sky…..

Ensure you are giving this lifetime your ‘everything’ without being controlled by your fears…..

Go fly high – and enjoy the exhilarating flight of your life!!

Blessings and hugs,

Les
