Mothers Day
Honouring one’s mother should be as obvious as breathing.
This weekend many people go one step further; so I am delighted to bring you a real-life story from a beautiful subscriber.
Enjoy……..
About 12 years ago when Mother’s Day came around I had nobody to give an actual card to because both my husband’s mother and my own had died years before, so I was feeling a bit sad and motherless – until it dawned on me that I had Mother Earth.
Every single morning since moving into our home I’d stood at the kitchen window looking out over the lovely greenery and the ocean and giving thanks to Mother Earth for such a blessing.
So I thought I’d wish her Happy Mother’s day that year, due to fall the following day.
We live high and have a tiered garden at the side of the lower floor, and up that side of the house and over that garden area a wild wind was almost always rushing.
I decided to dig a mound of dirt the shape of a heart for Mother Earth and put flowers over it – I made a nice shape and early the next day, I went outside to see what flowers were blooming – but there were none.
The only flower in the whole garden area was a pretty pink geranium with only two flowers blooming – however each bloom was made up of dozens of little petals with a tiny stem all joined into the main one.
I carefully removed the blooms and took them to the heart, then very gently pulled out each little stem, and with a pencil I put a hole in the heart and then the stem and pushed it all together……..there were just exactly enough to cover the heart!!
I gently sprinkled it with water and then knelt beside it and wished Mother Earth a ‘Happy Day’ with thanks and then kissed the soil beside it.
For 3 whole weeks the wind blew with a fury as it was Autumn when the winds blow most of the time…… and the sun fiercely dried the earth……. and then the rains pounded everything flat……. but not this heart with its fragile little petals which was right in the path of the wildest weather: it stayed fresh and bright for all that time.
A wonder to behold!
I knew then and there that Mother Nature was indeed grateful, and I have done the same every year since.
Sometimes I use leaves around the edges or ribbon grass or whatever I have to adorn it.
One time there was not a single bloom in the garden so I bought a bunch of beautifulwhite M.D. flowers and cut short stems and poked them into the heart shape, making a delightful high mound and display, and those flowers all withered and died within 4 days.
So it seems this blessing must come from our own garden.
Just the same, none since has lived a full three weeks, but they all survive at least two, which is remarkable and I never water them after the first sprinkling.
I believe that this is my Thank You.
This weekend it will be time to dig another heart mound……..
Blessings to you all,
Robyne
Blessings and hugs,
Les

AM I WORTHLESS?
I mentioned recently that when I was a homeless teenager on the streets of ‘the Cross’ I carried what seemed like the very worst of all burdens: I saw myself as grossly disfigured and ugly due to the large tumours which covered my body….. I also doubted if I was worthwhile….if my life was worth
WORRYWORT NO MORE!
Most of us focus on the small things that simply disappear from importance before the week is out. In the meantime because we focus on them their importance expands and takes up much of our time and attention. Unfortunately, there are no refunds for wasted time so we end up achieving far less than we
DON’T FEEL THE LOVE – BE IT!
Thirty years ago I ran a weekend spiritual workshop at Kingaroy. About 36 eager people turned up. On the way to Kingaroy early morning I came across a kangaroo that had been hit by a car. It lay dead on the road, still warm. I stopped the car and checked it for any joeys –
THE GROWING PANDEMIC
Dearest Friends, A Thousand thanks for your friendship, your love and support. There is a growing pandemic spreading across the entire world. Oddly enough, it’s nothing new. And it has nothing to do with Covid or any other virus. It’s just that there’s a whole lot more of us sharing the planet. So it’s so
IMAGINE THAT!!
Jean Houston, the famous human potential movement “guru” tells the story of when she was very young getting the opportunity to meet the great Albert Einstein at his house on the Princeton University campus. A classmate asked him: “How can we get to be as smart as you?” He said “Read fairy tales,” which made
HOLD ONTO YOUR FORK
I am reminded of the young lady who had terminal cancer. Elizabeth wanted to carefully script and plan her final farewell. Flowers, prayers, songs, speakers – she arranged the entire thing, well in advance. She requested that she have an open casket at the funeral. And – surprising the organizer – she asked that a
YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK
Congratulations! You are connected to the network! Actually, we all are….. But not all of us realize it. Do you remember when you thought of a friend and they called you on the phone just minutes later? Or the time you thought of someone and almost immediately they physically knocked on the front door? Or
IS IT WISE TO HAVE FAITH AND TRUST?
Several people have asked me to address these issues…so here goes! Clearly, having faith and trust in human beings is risky. They turn. They change. Circumstances cause alterations and modifications. Every kind of relationship is subject to adjustment, like it or not. So faith and trust in human beings and their institutions is always subject
I FAILED AGAIN !
I titled my last book so badly that sales have nose-dived! How lucky am I…….failing at things can be such a wonderful teacher! (I am choosing to simply re-title it and some others at the same time). I know many people who get really disappointed (and even angry) when things go every way except the
WHO THINKS UP YOUR THOUGHTS?
Have you ever watched rain running down the window? Each drop seems to be competing with the next to get to the bottom first….your mind joins in the race. You take sides, hoping your chosen rain drop gets there before the others….. It’s called projection. You project your identity onto the raindrops. You project your
DO YOU REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE?
There was an old man who used to go to the nursing home religiously every day around breakfast time to see his wife. He’d stay half the morning, then come back later in the day to see her again. He never missed a day. And this was particularly remarkable because his wife had advanced dementia
SoulLight New Year 2023
Another year looms ahead….. How will you handle its highs and its lows, its ups and its downs, its hurts and its joys, its positives and its negatives…..?? We all have them. No-one is immune from them. No-one flows through life without them. I have as many as anyone else (maybe even more than some
SoulLight Christmas 2022
Wherever you go, I shall go Wherever you live, so shall I live We shall be together for ever Your people will be my people. And your God will be my God, too…… A friendly chat with Spirit reminded me of this 5th century BC story of Ruth (a Moabite) whose Jewish husband died.
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET
When I was a homeless teenager on the streets of ‘the Cross’ I carried what seemed like the very worst of all burdens: I was ugly. Or so I thought. I had large tumours on my body and I thought I looked untouchable, rather like ‘the elephant man’. To cover my shame I wore long
SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE
Like most people, in my younger days when things went “wrong” I consulted psychics. Palmists, card-readers, clairvoyants of every ilk. And time and time again during the reading I would be told I had a special “guide” with me called (as best they could ascertain) Morkeye or Morchai or Morke or (most often) Mordechai. I
WE ARE NOT ALONE
This is possibly one of the biggest issues facing us today….are we alone? Most of us spend time in conversation with our friends wondering about aliens and ufo’s……Is anyone else ‘out there’? Are we safe? Are other life-forms more advanced than us? And the answer to all three of these questions is: Certainly. YES. But
ULTIMATE UNDERSTANDING IN JUST 24 WORDS
The Bhagavad Gita, Hindus sacred scripture, has about 21,000 words. The Koran has about 77,000. Kojiki, the sacred text of Japanese Shintoism runs to 150,000 words. The Buddhist Tipitaka runs to around 300,000 eight-syllable verses. The Christian New Testament is around 770,000 words and the Jewish bible packs in over 783,000. Each of these texts
Everything is perfect just as it is, in every moment.
Neale Donald Walsch and myself share a number of things in common: we both changed direction after talking to God, both wrote books of our talks, both continue to help others to shine their Inner Light. (I encourage you to read his awesome books ‘Conversations With God”.) So, for a change, I’d like to offer
ARE YOU ‘A WORK OF ART’ ?
Do you recognize yourself as a Work Of Art? Now I’m not talking at all about your ego. Indeed, for many people their ego would happily describe them as anything but a work of art…..and for many others their ego would loudly declare their absolute superiority in just about everything…… No, this has nothing at
A LOVE BY ANY OTHER NAME…..
There are probably billions of people who can’t stand the word ‘God’. Others are passionately opposed to the term ‘Allah’. ‘Jehovah’ gets bad publicity from many quarters. Brahma, Vishnu, Siva remain quite localised – and Buddha and Krishna remain Teachers well below Jesus in the ‘divinity stakes’…… And then, of course, there’s the historical giants
