Soul Lights
Can you please help ?
Many, many years ago I wished to start my first spiritual retreat.
So I moved onto a property called ‘Gayatri’ and renamed it ‘New Veda’.
I offered weekend retreats and the place was soon buzzing.
Sadly, my partner at the time preferred a real estate agent…..
So, early one morning, without any notice of any kind, a removal van came up the drive and my partner advised me she was moving out…
With her that day went all the furniture and all her personal possessions.
Carpets, cups, grocery items, chairs, tables, beds, fridge….
I watched everything go down the drive…… including my relationship.
I was left alone in an empty building in an empty retreat with just my clothes for company.
I was devastated and in shock.
However, as the morning wore on my mood changed from distress to elation: all the clutter had been removed from my life and I was free!
Free!!
Really free!!!
I visualized a big Om and nothing else cluttering up my lounge room.
I visualized a simple, single bed holding pride of place in my bedroom.
I started to sing “Zippedy Doo Dah!”…….but then panic set in!
Another removal van was coming up the drive!!
I became worried in case she had changed her mind!
This second removals team soon stopped outside my totally empty house.
I stepped outside to advise them everything had gone on the first truck – but there sat three friends, including a lady called Irene.
Big grins spread across their faces.
I was perplexed.
“There’s nothing else to take” I smiled.
“I know” replied Irene. “That’s why we’re here. I knew this day would come and so I’ve been collecting furniture and fittings and storing it in my shed for when the day came. We found out this morning……so here we are!”.
Soon my home was lovingly overflowing once again with ‘things’.
And most importantly, I was overflowing with gratitude for their kindness.
Why do I tell you this story?
Well, Irene now has no home, nothing – all her possessions – uninsured – were destroyed in a fire.
Not so young anymore, she lives in her car and has done so for a couple of years.
But now that is mechanically unsafe and costs too much to repair.
She still helps people.
She offers her time free of charge to charities and is always looking to help others.
Maybe you have a spare older car you could gift her?
Or maybe a little help with money so she can buy another second-hand oldie-but-goodie car she could live in until some accommodation becomes available?
Or maybe even enough money so she can rent a small unit again……?
Every little bit will help this angel who has always helped others, myself included…..
She has a ‘go-fund-me’ page:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/from-car-to-community-give-irene-the-home-she-deserves
Every donation – no matter how small – will help Irene with everyday practical existence.
Thankyou for reading our story.
Have a beautiful, peace-filled week of gentle delights….
Les

Shanti Deva, born in Delhi in1926
Last article I wrote about the four year old (now probably nine) who both remembers before she was born; and has told her parents she still has angels watching over her. This week I’d like to tell you about Shanti Deva, born in Delhi in1926. Around the age of three she told her parents that
Facing Issues Around Death – Responses
Last article I wrote about death and dying; and many people kindly responded – thankyou. So this week I’d like to share a few insights into a couple of its aspects…….. 1. KEEP OUR FOCUS POSITIVE NO MATTER WHAT. Sue, suffering a rare and painful disease, wrote me earlier this year. Her words tell the
Facing Issues Around Death
Each year we do our best to help a great many hurting people. Some we see in person, others by Skype, others by email. On Monday I spoke to two people who were having to face issues around death. I felt my answer to one of them might well help others in the same situation.
LIKE YOURSELF
This is the single, most important – and necessary – achievement for any of us at our current stage of spiritual evolution. Until we fully like ourself we can’t love ourself. And until we love ourself, we can’t truly love anything or anyone else. Until we can sincerely acknowledge that we like ourself we can
Make me a Channel of Your Peace…
Although this beautiful prayer is attributed to St Francis he didn’t write it. It was written by Father Esther Bouquerel (a French priest) and printed in his newsletter in 1912. In 1967 it was somewhat re-written and set to hymn music by the South African songwriter Sebastian Temple. Jon Cohen further changed the words later.
When ego-es God comes
As readers of my articles you are automatically members of The Community Of The Heart. This Community has no membership fees, holds no meetings and asks nothing of you – other than to always try to come from the Heart. One member (for almost 25 years now!) sent me a request this week: “can u in
The Extra Secret To Manifesting
Thanks to those people who replied to last week’s article. One person hit the nail on the head: Mother Theresa failed to consciously connect with God because she was looking for the Divine Presence “somewhere out there”….. rather than owning her most loving inner feelings – the way each of us can access (in a way limited
My Own Edited Version of a Talk Originally Written and Given by Robert Fritz
This week I’d like to share with you my own edited version of a talk originally written and given by Robert Fritz, a highly renowned American Thinker. I am sure you will gain much from it. Sometimes we think we have to be regularly in touch with the Divine to have a meaningful Life –
The 5 Minute Life Purpose Exercise
“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” Robert Bryne, the American author wrote this famous line. His contemporary, Adam Leipzig, a film studio executive, converted it into a simple, yet profound, talk……how to find your life’s purpose in just 5 minutes. He asked his audience just five questions which I’ve printed below….. Do
THE GARDEN OF PEACE
Every week so many of you communicate with me – thankyou so much! This week I’d like to share two recent emails relating to my Peace article. The first is a poem from Brian Bell …… The second is an article from Stella Margaret…… . . . . . . . . . . .
WHAT WOULD LOVE DO NOW ?
This is the single, most important question anyone can ever ask themselves. Through earnest contemplation of this question can every concern of life be resolved. Through earnest listening to the answers we find can we achieve freedom and consciousness. Through earnest attention to carrying out the replies we receive can we find Sublime Love, our
Peace – the end of all struggle
We live on a strange planet, don’t we? We all want peace but we all experience its opposite in one way or another…… During humanity’s recent 3500-year history we have been at peace as a planet less than 200 years! Before that we were probably always fighting one another, simply for survival. Amazingly no country

Happiness! PART 17
We’re coming to the end of this series! This week we’ll consider: “What’s really important to me?” For many we know that seems to be their new car, their new dog or their new outdoor barbecue setting. People will say those things “make me happy”. But we also know that’s not real, lasting happiness: it’s

Happiness! PART 15
This week let’s smile! It’s been known for ages that our physical body and our brain work together. Put a frown on your face, hold it for ten seconds and you’ll start to feel dejected. Clench your fists and your jaw and voila! you’ll soon feel more belligerent. So put a wide smile on your
Happiness! PART 14
This week we’ll discuss ……….divesting ourselves of our diversions! Diversions clutter our social scene and range from the television to the mobile phone, from emails to Instagram……. I am reliably informed that the more time people spend on Facebook (for example), the unhappier they become and the less satisfied with life they are, too. Ditto

Happiness! PART 11
Last week we looked at how to best start the day and how to best finish it. The core of that process is really to establish a close and intimate relationship with The Divine Presence, the very core of your Being. This week I’d like to suggest you take control of your intentions. In other
