Some of you are Christians, some Buddhists or Hindus, a few are Sikhs and a fair number follow Native Indian practices.
A smattering probably describe themselves as “spiritual’.
So who is on the winning team and who is barracking for the losers?
And the answer is ‘everyone’ and ‘no-one’.
There are hundreds of denominations in Christianity, around 12 major sects in Hinduism, around 18 significant sects in Buddhism, well over 100 different Taoist schools and countless belief systems originating from various “native people’s”…….
Even ‘spiritualists’ vary from group to group….
God belongs to no specific church; and follows no specific religion.
I am reliably informed She considers them all to be ‘pagan’……
“Pagan?!” I hear some people exclaim in horror….
Let’s get real: God would never deny a pagan perspective, nor a Sioux, Sikh, Tao, Shinto, Hindu, Buddhist or Christian perspective……..
The Divine is happy to let us view the Divine from wherever we sit.
Each perspective may be a tad different from the other but we can all view, feel, sense, touch, experience and embrace the same Divine……
Within Christian communities we have many perspectives…….both those of the various church dogmas; and those of Jesus as recorded.
If you stick to the Jesus stories the rich man gives away his excess to the poor, water is shared with the foreigner as both are recognised as one, all are encouraged to have love and compassion for one another and to find forgiveness for the lacks of others.
Everyone is encouraged to lovingly respect and honour God by being both humble rather than egotistical and by offering service to each other with gratitude rather than tax-free profits.
The world changes……
But first the dogmas that exploit, separate, minimise and demean most of us need to go.
Then we’ll be able to see the Divine in the blue sky and the breeze through the trees and the laughter of children and the love between peoples of every race, creed and condition……..
Life will become far more of a celebration, far less of a desecration.
The fences will all come down and paradise will reveal itself to us all.
It’s been there since Adam was a boy, waiting for us to discover it.
Pagan will become simply an acronym for
Paradise And God Actualising Now!
