Dystopia is waiting on the doorstep!

Special Note: I normally limit my articles to the strictly spiritual.
However I feel the impetus to respond to the deeply-divisive movement facing society.
So I will do so – just this once. Please excuse this divergence.
Please also take the time to read the entire piece: your thoughts will be respected.
I shall revert to Spiritual material through and by Mordechai from next week;

This Week……….Dystopia is waiting on the doorstep.

The first Industrial revolution started about 250 years ago and lasted about 80 years.

During that time the core of society moved from farming other people’s land to working long hours in crude steam-powered factories, mainly creating textiles.

It was exhausting work and paid very little with over half of wages spent on food alone.

Poverty and homelessness was everywhere.

Then, just as things started to improve, the second Industrial revolution began.

It was centred around mass production with steel and factories powered by electricity.

Child labour, continued poverty, poor sanitation and several wars kept many everydayworkers in a terrible condition.

Over the last hundred years things have slowly improved for the ordinary person.

Each revolution has eventually improved the living conditions of the ordinary person.

But it’s been a slow climb to get there.

And now we are all about to face another challenge – the AI Revolution.

The effects of this change will – as before – confront the ordinary family suddenly.

Loss of job. Little income. Sense of helplessness.

The few will become immensely rich – the rest will become significantly poorer.

This year in the US just 4,000 people own 50% of the country’s wealth.

The other 350,000,000 people share the rest.

And the ratio is getting worse every month: the rich are getting richer, the poor are struggling more and more….

The Head of Anthropic, the mega US AI Research and Development company is quoted as saying “AI could be an existential threat to humanity”.

That’s from one of the men who’s developing it!!

Scientists have announced that they have even built a DNA-powered computer that performs calculations using billions of molecules in a tiny drop of water.

The system taps into the laws of physics to create what the scientists describe as a computing system that’s more efficient than the conventional computers that are widely used today.

This will radically reduce the need for architects, accountants, lawyers, doctors, teachers, writers, artists and specialists of almost every ilk.

Put that alongside the development of driverless heavy duty trucks, buses, freight and passenger trains (even about to start in Sydney!), unmanned delivery road services, autonomous aircraft travel, robotic warehouse and factory floors and even mining sites, electronic non-human police and armed defence service personnel (already in service in Asia)……and you have a society that radically reduces the need for truckies, taxi drivers, deliverymen, posties, warehouse staff, retail staff, phone service staff, clerical staff and not nearly as many human police and real people in any of the armed forces (courtesy of the rapidly improving drone and robotic technologies which have already developed so fast and so far as to have secretly placed military weaponry on standby in orbit around the Earth).

I am not trying to scare you or even upset you.

I’m simply sharing what you already know, courtesy of the media.

Dystopia is coming again – and very, very soon.

Unemployment, poverty, homelessness, family breakdowns, drug use, physical violence, environmental ruin and rampant fear and distress are already on the rise.

And it is certain to get a great deal worse before it gets better!

So why do I remind you of the unfortunate obvious?

It’s because this scenario can also be the trigger for attitudinal change – but only if we act.

It’s moments and times like these that can help us to focus on the real (if we let it!)

And the real is that we truly are divine beings of Light and Love.

We don’t need the latest model battery operated car.

We don’t need the latest AI driven mobile phone.

We don’t need the ultra-modern home, complete with Jacuzzi.

We don’t need the latest Paris-fashions for on-field at Flemington.

We don’t need the overseas holiday.

We don’t need the $3million Super package.

We don’t need the 100-inch TV screen, the King size bed ensemble, Espresso Coffee-Maker, automatic Lawn-mower or In-ground spa/pool.

We need one another.

We can always make a job for ourselves.

We can always be creative and design a new way forward.

We can always be a help to others.

We can always let the ‘God Within’ flow through us and help both ourselves and others to heal and prosper in spite of the chaos that might surround us.

This AI Revolution can be the impetus that lifts us out of our blind allegiance to a nonsensical and insane societal structure – and helps us develop a world based on Kindness, Caring, Empathy, Support, Love, Gratitude and Creativity.

It’s our choice.

I’ll be here to help you personally in any way and every way I can.

As usual, I don’t charge.

There’s no need to let the coming changes crush you: they can be the impetus that drives you to discover the ‘awesome you’ silently treading time deep within.

Blessings,

Les

A HEAVY LOAD

There was once a Master who loved nothing more than to help others self-realise. One day a young man approached and asked for the older man’s help. The older man sized him up and then told him to go home and first repair all his hurt relationships, quit all his guilts and resentments and let

PART ANGEL, PART ANIMAL

Everyone on Planet Earth is part angel, part animal. If this offends you because of all the ‘work’ you have done to lift your vibrations toward the spiritual, I apologise. But it makes no difference. If you are on this living life-orb as it spins on its axis around this part of our galactic neighbourhood,

EASTER

Easter these days is mostly a time for relaxing and enjoying oneself. For some, it’s the time for celebrating the holiest event in the Christian year. For almost all of us it’s the time for Easter eggs and hot cross buns (both of which, along with Easter itself, actually existed well before Christianity took them

OVERWHELM

Life, sometimes, can seem overwhelming. In fact, after we ‘wake up’ to our divine place in the scheme of things, it can often seem even more so! We become aware of the problems caused by dumpsite disposal of plastics, of the rising salination of productive lands, of the tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of

A Phone Call to God

During the week one of my close ministerial friends sent me a prayer in the form of a phone call to God. In part it said: I want to ask you please to keep, My family and Friends safe and sound. I froze with guilt – guilt that in the past I’d nodded in supportive

Philosophies

Last week we shared a delightful brunch in a bustling café overlooking the Pacific Ocean with two beloved friends. One, researching for a book, eagerly asked me “what is your philosophy of life?’ My answer was that I don’t have one. My friend, who knows me well, seemed flummoxed. “Of course you do! You must

FAITH IN ACTION

Recently I have been writing about Faith and Gratitude and how they can transform our lives in ways which seem more like miracles than ordinary, everyday spiritual abundance. Below are two stories received from readers who share their own wonderful miracles through using the very simple process I encourage everyone to embrace. Hi Les &

FAITH

Giving Thanks for our previous home and also finding a new property weren’t the only surprising events that occurred as a result of giving thanks and trusting in the Divine. The necessary finance, itself, was another example. After I had taken the $50 I had in my wallet (one of the very few I had in

TRUST

Selling our valley property (last fortnight’s article) wasn’t the only surprising event that occurred as a result of giving thanks and trusting in the Divine. Heartland, itself, was another example. Trudi and I had been searching for a venue where we could live and work in one place rather than live at our valley and operate

GIVING THANKS, GETTING ANSWERS

Recently I told a Group the story of how Trudi and I came to sell up and move to Chatsworth to establish Heartland. We first went for a long forest walk and talked about maybe making the move and selling our beautiful valley which was surrounded on all sides by forest and was accessible only

HOW CAN I FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE HURT ME?

True Forgiveness arises out of acceptance. Often in the western world forgiveness is expressed as a form of pseudo-compassionate judgement: “I forgive you for what you did”. Yet is this true forgiveness? Most often it’s more of a probationary sentence that actually implies: I am aware of what you did but I am willing to

IS IT OK TO STRIVE TO BE PERFECT?

Why strive to be something you already are? Why not simply allow it to unfold? Does a young daffodil strive to bring forth its golden trumpet? Does spring strive to bring forward summer? Does the seed act like the tree it once will be? Does a tadpole strive to jump like a frog or a

WHY DO I SABOTAGE MY BEST EFFORTS?

We sabotage ourselves because deep within we’re afraid of disgracing ourselves. This fear we express as two seemingly opposed dysfunctions – sometimes as fear of failure and at other times as fear of success. Most of us utilise both forms of fear to handle different situations in our lives. But in truth, they’re both the

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DIE?

You don’t actually die – although it certainly looks that way! Your physical body starts to decompose because the energy body that gives it life – commonly called the etheric body withdraws its sustenance. With its life-energy withdrawn, the physical body starts to quickly dissipate and return to the constituent states from which it was

IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?

Of course. In fact, no major religion denies the continuation of life after death. They simply differ in the ‘small print’ of where and how this happens. The Jews of 2,000 years ago acknowledged multiple lives: as noted in the Bible, they asked was Jesus not Elijah, Jeremiah or one of the other prophets? The

HOW CAN I STAY MORE AWAKE?

To stay more awake, simply stay more observant. Allow the centre of yourself to change from exclusively being the Doer to also being the Observer of the Doer and your doings. So often we undertake chores and activities and only later remember what we did. Many find they can drive from place to place and

WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS ?

Consciousness is the state of awaked-ness. Most of us imagine we’re awake most of the day, but in fact we’re really in a heightened state of sleep, the level of sleep at which we can still carry out a varied range of ordinary yet automatic processes. These range from getting up and going to the

WHY ARE WE STILL NOT HAPPY?

Finding on-going happiness seems, for many of us, an almost impossible task. We end up settling for a grey and far less satisfying state of ‘okay-ness’ interspersed with brief periods of joy, harmony and momentary fulfilments side by side with uncomfortable feelings of personal impotence, general dissatisfaction and sometimes even victim-hood. Our experiences tend to

HOW CAN I STOP HURTING ?

Choose. Am I suggesting it’s as easy as choosing? Yes! But let me add that it’s equally important what you choose. Everyone of us hurts at some time in our life. It seems to be a natural expression for every being human being. And yet the truth is that it’s not natural! Hurting is that
